At first I thought, it could be another mobile game, but now I think it could actually be a new game we could get instead of season two. First of all, the first reason what makes me think, is an actuall post on IOIs website itself;

“One last thing about our next Hitman game; I want to let you know that we’re making great progress and we have exciting new features and some franchise firsts, which we can’t wait to tell you all about. You’ll have to wait a little longer as we don’t plan to start talking about that until some point in 2018.”
They talk about a new Hitman game, not season two. Of course they could, as always, stay low until they have something to show us and refuse to say season two but “new Hitman game”. But there are three other things that made me worring; the first is, that the actual image above the post is 47 in a sniping position. It’s part of the Patient Zero campaign but also, of course, sniping themed as Hitman: Sniper Assassin will likely become too. Beside that, they talk about how their new game has some “franchise firsts” they don’t want to tell us. But I will come to this point later on.
The second thing is the end of the Patient Zero campaign itself:
Again, we see 47 and a sniper at once. How I mentioned in the thread Patient Zero Ending (Spoiler!) (New Gadgets?) I already think that all the gadgets, changes and the reason it’s the end of the first content from IoI since they brought up with SE, it might be a teaser or “What to expect” from IoI. The last reason, and in my opinion the most valuable, is one interview like post I came across searching for informations about Sniper Assassin in the Hitman history:
They are basically talking about the success of Hitman: Sniper Challenge, a promotional demo like standalone game for Hitman: Absolution, and how they want to make a game based on the idea of playing only as sniper in a whole game, if possible to create to be fun and entertaining for the player. So a whole game like the Sniper Challenge. And now let’s take a look again at IoI’s newspost. They talked about “franchise firsts”, and a whole game played as sniper, not as 47 in hostile area, is pretty franchise first and would mark a huge change in the way Hitman would work and be played.
Now to my own opinion. I’m split between two scenarios. The first is that this is a mobile game, or promotional game, or fun game, like Hitman: Sniper or Hitman: Go, or Hitman: Sniper Challenge. Or, the second scenario is, that this is actually a real game and will be released instead, or before season two. I have enough reasons to believe both. For example, we already have Hitman: Sniper, so it wouldn’t be a franchise firsts entirely. But they also have been quiet about season two since they denied the october reveal will be season two (Instead it was the Patient Zero campaign.), and I’m sure they have a reason for it, maybe because we will never, or only in a few years, will get season two. Then again, they mentioned season twos release in their official financial report. Note that this was released after the break between SE and IOI, so it’s really actual and valuable for imformations about their current plans.
