Of course this doesn’t take into account methods of making enemies kill the targets for you(especially prevalent in BM’s All Zeros runs). For this I assume every target is killed by 47 directly(or by an accident).
I don’t know if this is the proper category but it seemed to fit I guess.
Codename 47 does not allow you to knock people out and several objectives require you to kill non-targets, so it has the highest number of non-target kills.
For Codename 47 non-targets I counted:
- 1 asylum guard you have to kill to progress
- 6 soldiers guarding the prisoner in Find the U’wa Tribe
- 10 soldiers that die when you blow up the drug lab in SHTMF
- Fritz Fuchs (He isn’t a target in this version. With some AI manipulation you can even finish the level without killing him but he is still counted as killed)
- 6 bikers you have to kill in the warehouse in Gunrunner’s Paradise
- 4 engineers that need to be killed to escape in Plutonium Runs Loose
- 10 Mr.48 clones in the last mission(yes there are ways to beat the level killing only 1 but it’s shown later in Contracts he killed them all)
Total 38 non-targets
For Hitman 2 non-targets I counted:
- The 3 SWATs and 1 orderly in the first cutscene(technically these happen during Codename 47 but they are only shown in this game)
The 21 guards in the last mission are counted as targets, despite them being marked as only enemies on the map because the objective requires you to kill them.
I originally counted Agent 17 as a non-target but I moved him to targets since he’s required to be killed to finish the mission. If I count Ort-Meyer as a target, then I count 17 as well.
Total 4 non-targets
For Hitman Contracts non-targets I counted:
- 3 bomb workers in the submarine you blow up in Bjarkhov Bomb
- 3 soldiers outside the submarine you blow up(not counting the 4th one that can survive it if you detonate when he walks away)
Total 6 non-targets
For Hitman Blood Money non-targets I counted:
- mail-man shot in cutscene before Till Death Do Us Part
Notable examples of people I counted/didn’t count:
Counted:
- 7 blue lotus guys and the 1 negotiator in Ambush
- Odon Kovacs in Codename 47 is counted as a target even though you can beat the level without killing him.
- The 2 targets in Murder at the Bazaar(you dont need to kill them, only grab their items but the objectives tell you to kill them).
- 2 mandatory assassins in Temple City
- all 3 targets in flatline
- everyone in requiem, including the priest and reporter is counted as a target.
- targets in Landslide, The Icon and House Built on Sand
- the absolution sniper game and the 3 sniper missions from 2018 are grouped together(all guards treated as targets)
- patient zero campaign
- holiday hoarders and hokkaido snow festival for H2016 and H2018 respectively
- special assignment targets in hitman 2018
- elusive targets (28 targets for 26 missions in H2016, 5 in H2018 because two Undying missions are not counted)
- diana’s parents in the ending cutscene of Ark Society
Didn’t count:
Various people killed for disguises in Codename 47(I am replacing all of those with knockouts)
- The driver in the ambush mission because you don’t have to kill him
- blue lotus negotiator in massacre at fish restaurant(counted for contracts remakes though)
- tzun and the guards in front of the safes
- guard in front of smith’s cell in Lee Hong
- spetsnaz agent in invitation to a party
- the other assassins in temple city because you dont have to kill them
- the butcher in the meat king’s party intro cutscene(while 47 clearly stabs him with the hook he is only unconscious in the level)
- Contracts remakes are represented by the green (+16) next to the total number of kills and they are not included in the total count
- various people that the game tells you to kill for the purpose of teaching game mechanics in Death of a showman(except Clarence). You can also avoid all of them with some skill.
- tutorial targets in hitman 2016
- female assassin in you better watch out
- escalation targets
- either of Mark Faba’s elusive target missions(He survives 47’s attempts. He is the undying, after all)
- various animals(dogs, jaguar in codename 47, bird in blood money)
- anyone from promotion material(including but not limited to trailers, concept art, posters)
